We are sad to inform everyone that fellow classmate Starr Bright passed away on July 17, 2012 after battling lung cancer. She leaves behind her husband, son and daughter.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Starr's family.
I can't recall exactly when Starr moved to Crystal Lake, but I believe the school year had started. I remember some snickering over her name, probably because she was so pretty and it was how kids deal with their envy. She was also very sweet and unassuming.
I was so shy in high school, I'm not sure how we became friends. I remember spending the night at her place on more than one occasion and how nice her entire family was, including her younger sister, Lisa, and her wonderfully eccentric (or so she seemed at the time) mother whose deep voice was often mistaken for "Mr. Bright" by hapless phone callers!
Star and I didn't remain close or keep in touch over the years, but I will always remember her fondly and I'm deeply sorry to learn of her passing way too soon.
So sorry to hear about the passing of Starr. I haven't seen her since high school days, but we had so much fun back in high school. Her family was alot of fun, especially her mom. I'll never forget when Starr and I very quietly came into her house in the middle of the night and thought we pulled a fast one. Next thing I know the bathroom door kicks open and there's her mom!! It was pretty funny. May Starr rest in peace.
