Sue Choynacki (Howick/Glowacki)

It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of our classmate, Susan Choynacki Howick/Glowacki, on September 17th, 2022.  Details below:

Susan J Choynacki Howick/Glowacki

January 7 1952 - September 17, 2022

Susan J. Glowacki, the angels came and took her. On September 17, 2022 Susan died with her loving husband and daughters by her side. She put up a valiant fight battling multiple sclerosis for over twenty years.

Susan was born January 7, 1952 the daughter of Edward (Ted) and Nancy Choynacki (Hannigan) of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1970 and married her high school sweetheart Derrick Howick in 1971 until his passing in 1979. She met her husband, Vince, in 1992 and they were married on April 1, 1993. They honeymooned in Ixtapa, Mexico which became their favorite vacation destination. They made many friends in Zihuatenejo. She and her husband bought a summer house in Adams-Friendship, WI and spent many happy days there. She worked for Osco/Jewel for nearly 17 years before retiring due to her MS. She leaves behind many loving and wonderful friends from there. After meeting and marrying Vince she became a Chicago Bears fan and always spoke of those freezing, windy days in Soldier Field.

Susan leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 30 years, Vince Glowacki; three wonderful daughters, Kelly J. George (Jamie) of Evansville, WI, Laura J. Glowacki (Zach) of Chicago, IL, Colleen G. Chan (Ryan) of Shakopee, MN; her two grandsons, Connor Hill and Brody Hill of Colorado Springs, CO; her three loving sisters, Jody Beadle (Charles) of Glenwood, IL, Sarah Johnson (John Flannery) of Elgin, IL, Gretchen Hartwig (Brian) of Rockford, IL.

Susan was a member of the First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake and an MS Facilitator for the Sauk Valley MS Group in Dixon, Illinois for five years where she coordinated party and fundraising events for the group. She stayed active with the group until moving to and residing in a nursing home in Prophetstown, IL. Susan also loved watching birds, nature, cats, dogs, art, and of course loved her family, always putting everyone before her own needs.

A gathering of friends and family will be announced in the near future.

A memorial has been established to the MS Society and Happy Tails of Rock Falls.
