Michael John Tipps, 69, of Woodstock, IL passed away on December 22, 2021. Mike was born in Waukegan, IL on March 4, 1952 to Russell and Helen Tipps. In 1970 Mike graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School. After graduating he began working in the lumber hardware industry. For the past 20 years Mike worked for Titan Metal Werks. On November 17th, 1984, Mike married the love of his life, Carole Cooper. Together they enjoyed long distance adventures on Mike's motorcycle. Mike was involved in the McHenry County Hog Group and a bowler at Metro Bowl for over 50 years. Mike enjoyed his motorcycles, bowling, Star Trek and chess but there was nothing he loved more than his grandkids and spending time with them. Mike is survived by his wife Carole Tipps; children, Casey (Jamie) Tipps, Gus Tipps, Christopher "C.J." (Cassie) Tipps, and Keeley (Kristopher) Petroski; grandchildren, Haden, Avery, and Landon Tipps, LeeAnn Petroski and his 5th grandchild to be, coming in the summer of 2022; siblings, Jeff (Judi) Tipps, Michelle "Shelly" Kussin, and Randy (Lynn) Tipps; brother-in-law, Tom (Deb) Cooper, and sister-in-law, Renee Cooper; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen Tipps; father and mother-in-law, Wyman and Verrie Cooper; brother-in-law, Ron Cooper; niece, Megan.

A Memorial Visitation for Mike will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home (500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014). Continued Memorial Visitation on Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10am until the time of Memorial Service at 11am at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.

I must have been a band groupie of Mike's because he gave me a reel to reel tape (remember those?)of his band's favorite song of mine that he sang by the Youngbloods "Get Together". RIP Mike.
